PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME (PMS)

PMS is one of the most common hormone-related conditions in otherwise healthy women. Women can experience a wide range of symptoms for 10 to 14 days before menstruation, and even 2 to 3 days into menstruation. These symptoms include mood swings, fatigue, headaches, breast tenderness, abdominal bloating, anxiety, depression, confusion, memory loss, sugar cravings, cramps, low back pain, irritability, weight gain, acne, and oily skin and hair. Causes may be hormonal, nutritional, psychological, and the stress of the Western Culture. 

Essential oils have demonstrated an ability to balance and harmonize hormones and reduce negative symptoms safely. Specifically sage, fennel, and clary sage have an estrogen-like action that improves estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone balance.

APPLICATION RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ANY OF THE OILS BELOW:

  • Inhale directly from bottle, 3-6x a day
  • Dilute and topically apply to forehead, crown of head, soles of feet, lower abdomen and lower back, 1-3x a day
  • Use a warm compress (especially on top of the oils) on lower back or lower abdomen, as needed
  • Place 1 drop of the Glandular Blend (below) on the tongue and then hold the tongue against the roof of the mouth, 2-4x daily

  • Sage

  • Geranium 
  • Peppermint

🌸FEMALE BLEND (Helps relieve PMS symptoms and menstrual discomforts, including cramping and irregular periods. It may also be used for mood swings and headaches caused by hormonal imbalance.):

  • 30 drops clary sage
  • 20 drops fennel
  • 20 drops marjoram
  • 5 drops jasmine
  • 8 drops sage

Mix in a glass dropper bottle with your favorite carrier oil. As needed, apply to the Vita Flex points on the feet and around the ankles, both inside and out. Apply with a warm compress to the lower abdomen, across the lower back, or on any painful location. You can also diffuse this blend!

🌸GLANDULAR BLEND (Contains oils associated with hormonal balance, improving and balancing metabolism, and weight control. It may also help alleviate hot flashes in women):

  • 40 drops spearmint
  • 30 drops myrtle
  • 10 drops sage
  • 8 drops geranium
  • 5 drops nutmeg

Mix in a glass dropper bottle with olive oil. As needed, apply over the lower back, thyroid, kidneys, liver, feet, and glandular areas. It may also be applied to the Vita Flex points on the feet for these same areas of the body.
