Let’s talk bruising…
Essential oils can help speed the healing of bruises and reduce the risk of blood clot formation. Oils like cypress help to strengthen capillary walls, while oils like helichrysum help speed the reabsorption of the blood that has collected in the tissue.
Essential oils such as clove and nutmeg have been clinically shown to reduce platelet stickiness and tendency to aggregate or clump. This property can be very useful in reducing bruising due to excess thrombosis.
SINGLE OILS:
- Helichrysum
- Cypress
- Balsam fir
- Clove
- Nutmeg
DIY OIL BLENDS:
Recipe #1:
- 5 drops helichrysum
- 4 drops lavender
- 3 drops cypress
- 3 drops lemongrass
- 3 drops geranium
Recipe #2:
- 6 drops clove
- 4 drops black pepper
- 3 drops peppermint
- 2 drops marjoram
- 2 drops geranium
- 2 drops cypress
Topically apply them neat or diluted with a carrier oil 50/50. Apply 1-3 drops on bruised area 2-4x a day. Helichrysum is especially beneficial in healing bruises when applied neat on location + a cold compress 2-4x a day.
