Introduction to Adrenals

Adrenal fatigue, Reset and Nourishment

What exactly is adrenal fatigue? Well, first of all it is not widely accepted as a diagnosis in western or allopathic medicine, maybe because they do not want people to become healthier and walk away from the system of being treated like a cash cow for Big Pharma? Or maybe it’s just selective diagnosing on their  part? Either way once you know what this is and realize that it could be the root of how you are feeling, all the dots begin to connect! What matters is learning to listen to your own body and embracing that you can heal you!

Let’s dig in…

Adrenal fatigue is prolonged exposure to stress that drains the adrenals leading to a low cortisol state due to cortisol pumping out constantly while the body is in fight, flight or fawn. The adrenal depletion would cause brain fog, low energy, depressive mood, salt and sweet cravings, lightheadedness, and other vague symptoms.

What are the symptoms of adrenal gland disorders?

  • Upper body obesity, round face and neck, and thinning arms and legs.
  • When untreated for quite some time this leads to belly fat that doesn’t seem to go away “no matter what you try”.
  • Skin problems, such as acne or reddish-blue streaks on the abdomen or underarm area.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Muscle and bone weakness.
  • Moodiness, irritability, or depression.
  • High blood sugars.

The root of Adrenal fatigue is, in essence, a trigger of stress that goes unchecked and places the body into fight, flight, fawn (paralyzation). The body then tends to get into a cycle of poor, restless sleep at night, you wake up tired and have to take short naps thru the day and rely on caffeine, only to get a surge of cortisol around 8 pm, so you stay up late trying to “get things done”, and the whole cycle starts over again.
