Eczema

What is it?

  • Chronic itchy, inflamed skin
  • Skin is often very dry, red and scaly
  • Scratching and rubbing lead to darkened and hardened areas and create thicker skin with accentuated furrows, most common are on the wrist, elbows, back of knees

Eczema also called atopic dermatitis, is becoming more and more of an epidemic and general research will point to:

  • Levels of serum IgE are elevated
  • Often a positive skin allergy test
  • Often this leads to asthma if unresolved or steroids are used

There is a root trigger, for many babies and kids the trigger is vaccines, gluten (hybrid wheat), sugar, environmental chemicals in the home, toxic cleaners and dryer sheets, antibiotics and overall poor immune function (often from vaccines)

Formula fed babies (using a non European clean formula) often also lead to eczema. Common food triggers are: hybrid wheat, corn, soy, pasteurized cow dairy/milk, peanuts, eggs (from vaccines being grown in them).

Your skin is your largest organ, and the state of your skin can tell you a lot about your body’s needs. Your skin is exposed to everything the day brings – heat, cold, sun, wind, environmental toxins, household toxins, and more. So we need to do everything we can to show our skin (and our bodies!) some TLC.

YOUR SKIN IS AFFECTED BY….

  • The health of your gut
  • Hormone balance
  • Exposure to natural elements (wind, sun, etc.)
  • Exposure to toxins around you
  • The amount and quality of sleep you get
  • Stress
  • Your diet, especially sugar consumption

Some of the things affecting our skin are out of our control, and some of the things are within our control. So we choose to make the best decisions we can regarding what is in our control, give our skin lots of love with healthy fats, lots of water & minerals, good sleep and minimizing stress.

CHOOSING HEALTHY PRODUCTS

Sadly conventional skin and personal care products are chock full of synthetic ingredients that wreak havoc on the body, especially over time, disrupting hormones, causing allergies (often low-level so we barely notice!), and filling our systems with chemicals that cause damage over time. Switching from conventional, chemical-laden beauty products is a great, simple step in the right direction! Young Living products contain NO synthetic ingredients. NO hormone disruptors. NO artificial colorings. And you can bet that every ingredient used is of the highest quality.

If I could encourage you to do ONE thing, it would be to stop buying stuff like this for kids, grand babies, nieces, anyone on your list.

Just don’t waste your money – we can’t use this stuff!

  • The bath bombs
  • The colorful hand sanitizer
  • The sparkly bath gel
  • The hand lotion
  • The makeup

Allergies. Eczema. Migraines. UTIs. Hyperactivity. Infertility. Hormone disruptors. Cancer.

So many of the ingredients in these products are linked to these. Like, actually linked. And they’re totally normalized in our culture.👎

$2.75 sounds like a great price point for stocking fillers ….be careful with all the hidden side effects

The NICNAS & TGA, FDA, EPA… they do NOTHING to test the safety of the products we use daily in our homes on our most precious babes.

♻️ is the environment and caring for the planet important to you? Time to look at the footprint these toxic products leave behind!

💚 Just like you would with food, take a moment to read the ingredients before you put these in your cart, because what goes ON the body, ON the largest organ, our skin goes IN the body.🧐

Here’s your cheat sheet of what to start avoiding:

🔘DEA/MEA/TEA

🔘Fragrance/Parfum

🔘Methylisothiazolinone (MIT)

🔘Parabens

🔘PEGs (of any kind)

🔘Petroleum & Petroleum byproducts

🔘Propylene Glycol

🔘Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

🔘Synthetic colors & dyes( all the numbers)

It is not difficult to use better options and have them delivered straight to your door as well via a Loyalty box. There are even incredible ways to stretch a dollar without sacrificing precious hormones and organs.

EVERYDAY YOUNG LIVING FAVORITES

We mostly think about skin care being for our faces, but truly taking care of our skin involves all of it! We can create nourishing daily routines to give our largest organ what it needs, and that starts with reducing our chemical load by switching to natural options. Here are a few ways we can do that and some favorites for reducing our exposure to toxins in the home!

  • Young Living Soaps and Bath Gels (Evening Peace is our go-to!)
  • Thieves Cleaning Products – Thieves Household Cleaner, Laundry Soap,Hand Soap, Dish Soap and Kitchen & Bath Scrub
  • Diffusers + Oils instead of scented candles & plug-ins.

Often, our skin is the first sign that something is happening on the inside that needs to be addressed. There are many ways that this shows up – sensitivity, inflammation, redness, breakouts and more. Each situation will be a bit different, but there are a few supplements that work from the inside out to truly nourish and support the skin (and body overall!).

  • Life 9 Probiotic – Skin health is directly linked to a healthy gut, and a really good probiotic is the cornerstone of gut health.
  • SulfurZyme – Dietary sulfur and MSM are essential for healthy skin. If you’re struggling with dry, itchy, or inflamed skin, check out this supplement!
  • Longevity Softgels – This supplement is a powerhouse of oils that support overall longevity and health – Frankincense, Thyme, Clove and Orange.
  • Mineral Essence – This one supplement can do so much. Water is great, but if you aren’t adding essential ionic minerals to your routine, you’re not getting all you need!
  • Inner Beauty Collagen – Collagen is an essential component for our skin (and joints and more), and it naturally declines starting around our late 20s, so supplementing is a great choice.
  • Progessence Plus Serum (topical use) – Hormonal acne can be caused by an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, so helping the body balance progesterone levels can have a huge impact on the skin!

Other things to consider include dietary reactions to things like dairy, wheat, or sugar that often show up as skin reactions. Also, the link between gut health and skin health cannot be ignored! Depending on the individual this can be as simple as bone broth and a probiotic daily or it can be a more complex process needing more support.

Other considerations:

  • GAPS diet – or a modified version by incorporating bone broth, probiotics, enzymes, removing gluten and increasing protein and animal fat
  • Turn the TAP off. Meaning stop the exposures that are the triggers
  • Calendula flower based salve with oils (german chamomile, frankincense, myrrh, blue tansy)
  • Remove toxic detergents, dryer sheets, soaps, synthetic fragrances
  • Give it time to be consistent with the changes as well as allow the gut to heal by being diligent with food, probiotics, enzymes. Healing does not happen overnight and it takes time for toxins to leave the body
  • Detox baths with aluminum free baking soda 2-3x a week

Small children or babies:

You can open life 9 and dab some on the tongue each day. You can crush mightyzymes or they can chew (approximately 6 months and up), ningxia beginning as soon as they are curious about a cup or 6-7 months. Only dilute oils if you absolutely need to. You can transition to mightypro at 1 year and continue with mightyzymes.
