For almond & peanut butter…Is palm oil okay or should we stay away from that? Seems like soooo many of them have it!

Palm oil is definitely one that is up for debate among a lot of people. It’s high in saturated fat and low in PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids). So the reasons to avoid seed oils don’t necessarily apply to it. Palm oil is a solid at room temperature similar to butter. That being said, you could definitely try to find an organic nut butter without palm oil. It’s also really easy to make yourself with just a blender. The Once Again brand is available on Amazon, and only has one ingredient. I personally love the MaraNatha brand, but I don’t consume a lot of peanut butter so I’m fine with the palm oil in that product. Hope this helps!

Staying away from additives is always a good idea -there ARE peanut butters out there made with just peanuts and salt. You can also easily make it at home, or some stores have in store grinders where you can freshly grind your own.
