Just about since his college days, my husband has had occasional “episodes” of chills, nausea waves, headache, inability to pass a BM, and fatigue for several hours. We’ve narrowed down the cause factors to a couple nights of inadequate sleep and a period of stress (usually the two together is what triggers). Since we’ve been married and I’ve cleaned up his diet, these have been fewer and further between, and also shorter lived and milder. Today, he’s had a worse than usual one after doing a lot more yard work than typical all yesterday, and he’s been getting up with our toddler in the nights while I am extremely pregnant and uncomfortable.

I read about the herx reaction symptoms in my new Dr Mom book that arrived today (that my lovely hubby got me as a Mother’s Day gift), and I’m wondering if his “episodes” could be that??? If so, I haven’t read anywhere about stress/lack of sleep inducing a herx reaction. Any insight or thoughts?

Likely related to lifestyle factors (like diet, stress, emotions etc). You can do a 1:1 with me if you want to drill down the specifics as there are multiple angles to review -or you can try to work your way through the Gut health courses and emotions courses in the Courses section.
