• Breastfed baby not pooping

Exclusively breastfed, 2 month old baby just up and stopped pooping this past week. Has had no issues until recently. Mom has been using Tummygize and DiGize every diaper change. Baby is not uncomfortable, still happy, eating, sleeping etc

Has baby had any Vs? Breastmilk is baby’s optimal food, and is much more completely absorbed than formula or other food. It IS possible for an EBF baby to not poop for days at a time as their body does not have waste to pass. Is baby peeing ok? Weight staying on track? You can always weigh baby in a clean diaper before nursing and then weigh right after, to see how much they drank (if there is worry that mom is not producing enough). If there is no issue with production, and baby is happy and hydrated I would say there is nothing to worry about and baby should produce a bowel movement soon.

Thank you for the response and reassurance! Baby is gaining weight well, over 4lbs gained since birth, mom is pumping so we know how many ounces he’s getting (over 24oz in a day) he did have vitamin k at birth but has had no other vaccines and has been exclusively breastfeed from day 1. Oh and mom is sprinkling some life9 in his bottles too

If possible to allow baby to nurse (even once a day), this directly affects the composition of the milk (there is a bio feedback loop where baby’s saliva is actually absorbed into the mothers body, analyzed and milk composition changed in accordance with baby’s needs) so IF there is anything amiss, mom’s milk can react to help baby almost instantly but otherwise it sounds like all is going well!
